A Great Place to Relax

Life slows down in South East Cornwall, but not to the point where you won't find anything to do. From the bustling working port and sandy beaches of Looe to the old world charm of Polperro, from the wide open spaces of Bodmin Moor to the sheltered river valleys of the Tamar and Fowey, there is something for everyone.

The town of Looe has been a popular tourist destination for over 100 years and continues to be the main hub of the area. With good links by road and rail it is easily accessible from all over the UK. Once at Looe it is easy to explore the rest of the region or travel further into Cornwall or back in to Plymouth. Better still, take your time to soak up the friendly atmosphere of the town with its safe sandy beach and good choice of shops and restaurants.

Just along the coast, Polperro has changed little since it was a haven for smugglers in the 18th century. Its narrow streets lead down to a picturesque harbour, beloved by artists.

Continuing west from Polperro, the cliffs get steeper and the scenery more dramatic. Here and there hidden coves can be reached by those willing to explore, the effort allways being rewarded. Heading east from Looe, the coastline is a little gentler. At Whitsand Bay long sandy beaches provide a great place for sunbathing, whilst the twin villages of Cawsand and Kingsand shelter on the west side of Plymouth Sound with thier waterfront pubs and cosy cafes.

Inland the area is a maze of lanes criss crossing fertile farmland. Deep wooded valleys run in from the sea and on the northern fringe of the area lies Bodmin Moor, a high rugged area rich in archaeology and legends. Small villages and market towns lie scattered across the whole region, these provide a break from the more touristy seaside villages and show visitors the real Cornwall.
