Celebrating the sea, boats and Cornwall, this multi award winning Museum not only has 15 stunning galleries beautifully illustrating the past, present and future of this island nation but also offers a number of stunning exhibitions.

Enjoy the last few weeks of the exhibition Lighthouses: Life on the Rocks which shines a light on lighthouses and their keepers. With hands-on exhibits and interactive displays, discover the power of the oceans, explore feats of daring and learn how these iconic beacons of light have saved lives and touched lives.

Get your geek on this February half-term at the Maritime Museum in Falmouth. CBBC’s Mark Brake and Jon Chase present two days of awesome experiments, including the Science and Fiction of Doctor Who.
As well as this Supersized Science Spectacular, there are all sorts of exciting activities happening at the Maritime Museum this February.

Launching on 16 March 2012 is the new blockbuster exhibition ‘Search & Rescue’, celebrating the rescue services who keep us safe at sea. A mix of large objects, stories, photography, film and artefacts offers you the opportunity to climb inside a Sea King search and rescue helicopter, get involved in a rescue, experience what it’s like when the worse happens and discover the heroes of our seas.

A living history exploration of Cornwall and the Sea in the Bronze Age opens on 13 April 2012. The exhibition, ‘2012 BC’ features a live reconstruction of a prehistoric boat, supported by rare objects never before seen in the UK.

And, 2012 wouldn’t be the same without an Olympic exhibition. Opening on 2 May is ‘Our Sporting Life – Sail for Gold’, an exhibition celebrating our British Olympic and Paralympic sailing heritage.

With activities for all, talks, lectures, workshops, rotating events and exhibitions, there’s so much happening at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall, don’t miss your chance for a visit. You’ll find so much more than you might expect.
